Gracie Abrams is looking back at her younger years with honesty on the title track of her new album, Daughter From Hell.
During a July 16 appearance on The Tonight Show, the singer explained that the song became a long-overdue apology to her mother. Abrams said she was difficult and defiant while growing up, describing the tension as part of the complicated process of becoming her own person. She now views the track as a thank-you note for her mother’s patience and support.
Abrams also performed Minibar, giving the song its television debut against a red-lit stage. The track appears on Daughter From Hell, her third studio album, released July 17.
Elsewhere in the conversation, she reflected on opening for Taylor Swift and recalled seeing Paul McCartney watching from the side of the stage during her Glastonbury performance. The unexpected moment left her stunned.
Abrams will return to the road later this year for the Look at My Life Tour, beginning December 2 in Denver.
