The Freedom 250 concert lineup in Washington, D.C., has become more complicated after new statements clarified who is, and is not, connected to the Milli Vanilli name at the event.

Organizers listed Fab Morvan as part of the Great American State Fair celebration, and Morvan has confirmed he plans to perform. In his statement, he said he wants to entertain and unite people, not divide them, while celebrating music and America’s 250th anniversary.

At the same time, singers connected to Milli Vanilli’s original recordings said they were surprised to see the name tied to the event and said they are not participating. The distinction matters because Milli Vanilli has long carried a complicated history involving its public image, recorded vocals, and legal use of the name.

The event has also faced a wider wave of artist exits. Several announced acts, including Bret Michaels, Martina McBride, Morris Day and The Time, Young MC, and others, have withdrawn or distanced themselves from the lineup after concerns grew over the event’s political associations.
