A spokesperson for London Mayor Sadiq Khan said City Hall had no role in Wireless Festival’s decision to book Ye as the headline act for all three nights of its 2026 event. The statement added that the artist’s past comments and actions were offensive and wrong, and said they do not reflect London’s values.

The response came after Wireless confirmed Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, for performances at Finsbury Park from July 10 to July 12. A representative for the Jewish Leadership Council also criticized the booking, calling it deeply irresponsible at a time when antisemitism remains a serious concern in the UK.

The announcement marks Ye’s first UK performance in 11 years. Festival organizers promoted the shows as a three-night run built around different parts of his catalog.

The booking arrives after years of controversy tied to Ye’s antisemitic remarks and public conduct. It also follows his recent apology and the release of his new album, Bully. Wireless has not changed the lineup, and the festival is still set to move forward as scheduled this summer.
