Mikey Madison, fresh off her Oscar win for Anora, is in talks to star in A24’s upcoming film The Masque Of The Red Death, a re-imagining of the Edgar Allan Poe story. She replaces Sydney Sweeney, who had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. Madison will play twin sisters in the film, which follows a mad prince’s decadent castle during a plague. (THR)


The suspect in the shooting death of actor Jonathan Joss has been released on a $200,000 bond and is under house arrest, awaiting a pre-indictment hearing in August. Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez allegedly admitted to shooting Joss, a neighbor, after an argument. Joss husband claims that Alvarez’s actions were motivated by homophobia. (People)


Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White will premiere on Disney+ on June 11th. Starring Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, the musical fantasy film re-imagines the classic 1937 animated Disney movie. The film was poorly-reviewed by critics and audiences alike and largely failed at the box office. (UPI)


While Cillian Murphy won’t appear in the upcoming 28 Years Later film, director Danny Boyle confirms that the Oscar-winner will have a role in the sequel 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, which is meant to set up a potential third film to wrap up the acclaimed zombie trilogy. The long-awaited follow-up is set to premiere in January 2026. (COS)


Russell Simmons is suing Warner Bros. Discovery for $20 million, alleging the filmmakers behind On The Record defamed him by ignoring evidence that disputed accusations of sexual assault. The documentary features stories of Simmons’ accusers, but he claims the filmmakers intentionally disregarded information challenging their narrative. (THR)


Blumhouse is developing a sequel to the 2019 revenge thriller Ma, with Octavia Spencer reprising her iconic role as the eponymous killer. The project is in early stages, but Blumhouse founder Jason Blum expressed excitement to have Spencer back for “a second round” of the popular low-budget horror film, which earned $61 million at the box office. Ryan Lochte and his wife Kayla Reid Lochte are getting divorced after 7 years of marriage. Kayla shared in an Instagram post that she made the “hard decision” to end the marriage, calling it a “painful, revealing, and challenging season” but necessary to protect her peace, children, and future.
