King of the Hill is returning to Hulu on August 4th with a new 10-episode season, over 16 years after the original series ended. The Hill family, led by Hank and Peggy, have aged appropriately, with their son Bobby now a 21-year-old chef living in Dallas. Original voice cast members including Mike Judge, Kathy Najimy, and Pamela Adlon are all back. (EW)
Netflix has announced the release plan for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. The hit show will air in three parts, with the first debuting on November 26, the second on December 25, and the series finale on December 31. Ncuti Gatwa has departed the BBC/Disney+ series Doctor Who after two seasons as the titular time-traveler. Alf Clausen, the veteran TV composer known for his work The Simpsons, has died at 84. Clausen composed whimsical scores for The Simpsons from 1990 to 2017, winning two Emmys. However, his relationship with the show ended badly when he was dismissed in 2019. Clausen’s break came in 1985 on Moonlighting, after years in the industry. (THR)
Valerie Mahaffey, known for roles in Northern Exposure and Young Sheldon, has died at age 71 after battling cancer. Mahaffey’s manager praised her as a “lovely woman and wonderful actor.” Over a six-decade career, Mahaffey won an Emmy for her work on Northern Exposure and had roles in shows like Desperate Housewives and Young Sheldon. Devin Harjes, known for roles in series like Boardwalk Empire, Gotham, and Manifest, has died at age 41. He passed away on May 27th in New York City, where he’d been battling cancer. He was best known for playing boxer Jack Dempsey on Boardwalk Empire and had other small-screen credits including Orange Is the New Black, and Manifest. (Deadline)
